Winston FFA Chapter’s Floriculture team placed eighth, and the Ag Mechanics team received fourth during district contest, sending both of these teams to the State FFA Convention to be held April 16 and 17 in Columbia.

The Winston FFA Chapter recently had several members compete in Career Development Events. Before heading to districts, members traveled to Lathrop High School and North Central Missouri College for practice contests. This year the chapter has five teams: Agronomy, Dairy Foods, Entomology, Floriculture, and Ag Mechanics.

The two members participating in Agronomy were Lane Fortner and Elizabeth O’Dell. At Lathrop and NCMC the team placed 26th consistently.

The Dairy Foods team members consisted of Chandler Asher, Logan Caldwell, Jacob Hullinger, Steven Muessig, Drew Neth, and Christian Turner. At NCMC the team placed 21st and at Lathrop the team placed 12th.

The Entomology team consisted of Morgan Farrell, Dylon Kessinger, Saxton Pliley, and Dalton Youtsey. At NCMC they placed 25th and at Lathrop placed 18th.

The Floriculture team members included Georgia Caldwell, Carly Gordon, and Thea Nelson. At NCMC the team placed 5th and at Lathrop placed 4th.

The Ag Mechanics team members were Dylan Fields, Zane Snow, and Aaron Piburn. The team traveled to North Shelby for their practice contest and placed 20th.

District contests were held March 31 and April 1. Agronomy finished the season with 24th, Dairy Foods received 12th, and Entomology placed 17th.
