Aviation Machinist’s Mate Airman (Aviation Warfare) Daniel C. Jones, United States Navy, has been selected as Blue Jacket of the Quarter, First Quarter, 2015. The award is based on his outstanding performance as Power Plants Technician, according to the Officer in Charge, Strike Fighter Squadron 122 Detachment El Centro.

Demonstrating extraordinary determination, Airman Jones was a key player in the expeditious removal and replacement of two F404-GE-402 engines, two generator convertor units, and was critical to the rapid repair of five major fuel system discrepancies, according to a citation signed by B.T. Whetstone, Lieutenant Commander, U.S. Navy.

As the work center “go to” sailor, Airman Jones qualified as Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist. Displaying exemplary initiative, he volunteered to help the Line Division during a rigorous flight schedule while he continued to perform his work center duties.

His tireless efforts resulted in the successful launch, recovery, and inspection of 23 aircraft during three Fleet Replacement Squadron detachments with a 99% sortie completion. Additionally, he volunteered 10 off-duty hours to the Christmas Parade, bolstering the Navy’s relationship with the local community.

Airman Jones’s loyal dedication, professionalism, and perseverance make him one of the Navy’s finest Airmen. His performance reflects great credit upon himself, the Unit, and the United States Naval service.

Daniel is the son of Gary and Tamra Jones of Gallatin. He is a 2012 graduate of Gallatin R-5 High School.
