Altamont United Methodist
Choral call to worship was “Sanctuary.” Dameon Lopp carried in the lighting of the Christ candle. Mission moment was the benefits of Second Harvest Food Service from St. Joseph. Children’s Time was “Isn’t it Great to Have Good and True Friends Who Really Care For You?” Scripture was from Jeremiah 31:31-34, “The time is coming when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel.” Pastor Marilyn’s message was “We Would See Jesus.”
Special music was “Oh Happy Day.” We thank some wonderful men and ladies who have worked so hard renovating our entry and Sunday School rooms with new carpeting and carpentry skills, much cleaning also took place.
Join us for Palm/Passion Sunday. Follow God’s will so he will bring you Salvation.
A baby shower will be held for Laura (Youtsey) Hoffman Sunday, March 29.
Gallatin First Baptist
Welcome and announcements were presented by Bro. Garrett. Stan Ray led intercessory prayer time. The Celebration Choir led by Linda Arnold presented the call to worship “Nothing But the Blood.” Julie Willett sang “God’s Sustaining Grace” as our worship through special praise. Bro. Garrett presented a message on “What kind of characteristics should we be displaying as a church?”
The Bible study “The Truth Project” was continued for our Sunday evening worship with Jeremy Ripple and Bro. Garrett leading the study. Celebration Choir practice is Tuesday at 6 p.m. There will be a Celebration Choir luncheon/practice after church next Sunday. Also, Community Choir practice will be held Sunday afternoon at 3 p.m. at FBC. Pioneer Club/JOY youth meet for meal – 5:30; and study time begins at 6 p.m.
Men’s Bible Study is at 7:30. Keenagers will meet for their monthly noon luncheon on April 2, and ham will be on the menu. A short video entitled “Captured By Grace” will be shown. This is a testimonial of God’s power of forgiveness in the life of Olympic star and war hero, Louis Zamperini, whose life is portrayed in the movie “Unbroken.”
The Community Good Friday Service will be held at the Assembly of God Church at 7 p.m. Wood Marshall, our minister of youth will be speaking, and the Community Choir will be presenting the special music.
Gallatin First Christian
The Praise Team and Sue Bird began our 8:20 a.m. worship service with opening songs of praise. GHS students sang a special (Jessica Litchfield, Jasmine Ramirez, Ariel Harper, Maria Bickford, and Gabriel Gibson). Elder Dennis Croy shared announcements at both services, as well as reading our “Focus on the Cross” where Elder David Rains hammered the nails in the cross. Vera, Aubrey, and Annie Nelson shared a children’s message at both services. Pastor Russ Hamilton read scriptures from John 12:20-36 and a message titled, “Glory to God.” Barbara Wilson played the piano at the 10:50 a.m. service and sang “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Upcoming Services: Palm Sunday (March 29) combined unity service at 9:30 a.m.; Maundy Thursday Service, which is a re-enactment of the Last Supper (April 2) at 7 p.m.; Good Friday Ministerial Alliance Service (April 3) at 7 p.m. at the Assembly of God Church with Pastor Robert Nelson preaching. Special Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on the hill by the three crosses, followed by coffee and doughnuts. One combined unity Easter Sunday Service at 9:30 a.m. –Easter egg hunt for the children following this service. Prayer wheel update: family of Jimmie Roy.
Coffey Baptist
Pastor Eldon gave a warm welcome. This was a special Sunday for each family to invite loved ones or friends to attend. Our music selections by Anna and Eunice were “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine.” The children’s message was by Carolyn. Pastor Eldon invited everyone to remain for our luncheon following the worship service.
Special music was “His Name is Wonderful.” Pastor Eldon’s message was Matthew 6:5-13. Don’t forget Sunday evening March 29 at 6 p.m. the Friends and Family Quartet will be here. Try to attend.
Gallatin Seventh Day Adventist
How are your New Year “resolutions” going? Here are a few suggestions: prayer or praise for a loved one or someone you know. Our prayers are for the Curtis and Uthe families, Patrick McBroom’s family, Joeanne Kitterer, Vicki Hiley, Karen Worrell. Matthew 5:3 “Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” Sabbath School Lesson: “The Humility of the Wise” led by Mary Alice Dalby. Scripture: Matthew 6:12 “And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.” Sermon: “Myths of Forgiveness.” Pastor Mike Carner Speaker next Sabbath: video. Our Bible studies have been moved to Monday evenings at 7 p.m. Bring your bibles and come and enjoy the study.
Pattonsburg Christian
Scripture reading was from Matthew 8: 28-34. Rev. Terry’s sermon “The Plot To Kill Jesus” was from Mark 14: 1-9. Remember in prayer Merlin Bozath, Betty McFee, Trevor Teel, Tessa Lang, Randy Teel, Jeanne Oliphant, Steve Lawrence, Clint Roberts, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Steve Crabtree, Doyle Tull, and the family of Donna Bell.
Easter Breakfast and Egg Hunt will be April 5 at 9 a.m. Senior recognition will be Sunday April 5 at 9 a.m.
Lake Viking
“The King of the Kingdom of God is Coming” was Pastor Robert Nelson’s sermon from Matthew 10:1-16. The special music was by Ruby Kay Edwards, “Tell Me About The Good Ole Days” in honor of her father Bill Clark for his birthday.
Lake Viking Church will be having an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. on April 5, followed by a breakfast of biscuits and gravy. Sunday School will meet at 9 a.m. and the regular worship service will begin at 10 a.m.
The Ladies Bible Study Group meets at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays. The Youth Group meets at 6:30 p.m. and the evening adult Bible study meet at 7 p.m. on Wednesday. Our choir meets for practice at 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
Lake Viking Church is located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. We are an Interdenominational Church and everyone is welcome to join us in worship.
Gallatin United Methodist
Jan Johnson played the prelude as Mady and Kendra lit the altar candles. Melanie delivered the children’s message. Pastor Mike Tipton based his sermon “Praising Him During the Storm” on John 12: 20-33. Many children attended Children’s Church for children’s Lenten study during worship service with Debbie Gore, Debbie Sweatman and Terry Pierce.
Our church is sponsoring another young man in Nicaragua for his education. Remember your dates to deliver Meals on Wheels in March. March 29 will be dine in/carry out tamale pie dinner. Betty Peters and Nancy Tate will take carry out orders. Maundy Thursday service will be April 2 at Jamesport at 6 p.m. April 3 at 7 p.m. is community service at Assembly of God Church. We are collecting school supplies to be delivered at annual conference in June for Missouri students. Place items in the back of the sanctuary. Prayer concerns are for Dale Alexander, Jonathon Wright and Kelly Gephardt.
Olive Baptist
In Bro. David’s absence, Luke Leeper brought the morning message, “Focusing on God’s Wisdom and Strength in Times of Stress” from Exodus 16 and Psalm 62. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was “Plan for Heaven” from Hebrews 11.
On Easter Sunday, we will hold sunrise services at 8 am. Breakfast will begin at 8:15. Sunday school starts at 8:30. Morning worship will be held at 9:30. We will conduct our annual Easter egg hunt after morning worship. Please sign up to bring breakfast items and Easter egg hunt supplies.
Friends in Christ
Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone. Praise songs were “Lord I Lift Your Name on High” and “Amazing Grace.” Peggy Earnst led us in prayer. The message “It’s Not in Me” was the first part of a new series, “Now What?” Scripture was from John 15:1-7. Small group time followed the message. Easter Sunrise Service will be at the park at sunrise with a breakfast to follow at the church.
