The Winston Historical Society reported that Jesse James Days is set for July 10-12. More roads may need to be closed than in previous years to make room for vendors. The Historical Society also has two tractor pulls planned.

Other community events noted by the Winston Board of Trustees at their March 2 meeting include a homemade ice cream social hosted by the school PTO on May 7 after the music concert as a thank you for community supporters.

Boy Scouts hog roast will be held June 27. Food serving will begin at 5 p.m., Karaoke at 7 p.m.

Bulk trash pickups scheduled for Saturdays, May 16 & Oct. 17.

Utilities clerk Amber Curtis provided a recommended list of locations for routine installation of shutoff valves.

Sewer maintenance: Melvin McFee reported that all Winston sewer equipment is working well, except that the circuit breaker on one pump at station #4 needs replaced.

Ordinance enforcement officer Christy Eden-Browder reported on property maintenance contacts, posting shutoffs, and action toward a summons to court for failure to pay a utility bill.

Town Hall & Park Maintenance: Jerry Lusk reported that the outside sensor light on the Town Hall went bad and has been replaced.

After review of a bid posting, Autumn Caldwell moved to proceed with a bid for park mowing and maintenance per the proposed posting.

The board approved the grading work agreement for Jerry Lusk.

The next meeting is scheduled for April 6 at 7 p.m., with the sewer board meeting prior at 6:30 p.m.
