Gallatin Christian

Sue Bird and the Praise Team began our 8:20 a.m. worship service with opening songs of praise. At both services Elder Carl Carder shared announcements and “Focus on the Cross,” which was about the robe this week. A children’s message was presented at both services by Junior Stith. Pastor Russ Hamilton read scriptures from 1 Corinthians 1:18-31 and delivered a message titled, “From Nothing.” Kim Ness led the singing a cappella at the 10:50 a.m. service. Hunter McCampbell and Declan Schweizer presented our “Focus on the Cross.”

Upcoming this week—Annual Lighthouse Learning Center Rummage Sale this Wed.-Fri. (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.); Sat., (8 a.m. to 12 noon). Sale is in Gallatin at 1501 S. Main (Hwy. 13 South). Fill a bag for $3, larger items will be priced. Proceeds from this sale are used to purchase items for the daycare. Call Director Becky Butler with questions 660-663-9618. This Sunday is Daycare Recognition Sunday and their board members will service a free-will donation breakfast between service at 9:40 a.m.—the daycare ministry will be recognized at both services. We will have a worship service at 2 p.m. this Sunday at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab. Palm Sunday (March 29) and Easter Service (April 5) will be combined services at 9:30 a.m. An Easter sunrise service will be held on the hill by the three crosses at 7 a.m. Prayer wheel update: Family of Jerry Whitt, family of Vicki Simpson, Tammy Murphy, and Johnathan Wright.

Coffey Baptist

Our morning worship service opened with prayer by Pastor Eldon, followed with our doxology hymn phrasing God for our blessings. “Holy, Holy, Holy” was sung. The children’s message was given by Shirley. Announcements were given by Pastor Eldon. Johnny Brown is now at     Crestview and Elaine Russell is at her son’s home. There will be service at Crestview at 2 p.m. and at Bethany care center at 3 p.m. Wednesday will be our noon luncheon at Pattonsburg for all those who can attend. Bible Study Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.

We now have a clothes closet at our church for items baby through adults. Special music was by Kylanda Clair and Kendra Wynne, who also gave specials at the nursing homes in the afternoon. Our service was 1 Corinthians 11:22-26 with the Lord’s Supper observed. We closed with the hymn “Room at the cross.”

Friends in Christ

The service was opened by Shonna Morrison. Peggy Earnst led us in prayer. Praise songs were “God of Wonders” and “One Thing Remains.” The sermon was “Redefining Terms,” which was the last sermon in the “Brand: New” series. Scripture was from Matthew 20:25-27 and John 1:14. Shonna closed in prayer. Small group time followed the service. The youth group will have an activity next Sunday at the church.  

Altamont United Methodist

Choral call to worship on the third Sunday in Lent was “You Alone Are Holy.” Briar Roll represented Girl Scout Sunday by showing her merit awards and honors. She served Girl Scout Cookies and hot drinks to the congregation.

Bertie Stith gave the scripture reading from Exodus 20:1-17, “The Ten Commandments.” Pastor Marilyn’s message was “housecleaning.”

A big thank you to Ryan Clark, James Wilson and Dean Rhoades for their hard work on the entrance floor. Our sympathy to the family of Kathleen Gibson.

A baby shower will be held for Rebecca Collins on March 14 at 1:30 p.m. at the Daviess County Library.

Gallatin Assembly of God

The Adult Sunday School class continued a study of Samuel. Clyde Lint led the discussion and pointed out that the message of restoration as seen in I Samuel 7 is still the message for today.

The morning service began with a good report of missionary offering by Ina Mcfee.

The entire congregation agreed in prayer for Nelda Carlson, Beverly Loucks, Leonard family, Nicole Hogan, Dick Curtis, Linda Worrell, Richard Wakefield, Dorothy Millette, and the Allen Curtis family.

Zoe Smith and Mona Roberts led the singing and worship time, including the song, “There is Something About That Name.” Pastor Smith continued the series about love, from Luke 19:41-42. Sermon was “Jesus Weeps for the Lost.”

Lake Viking

Exodus Chapters 4-12 were the scriptures used by Pastor Robert Nelson in his sermon “Let My People Go!” The special music was sung by Travis Toney. There will be a fellowship dinner Wednesday at 6 p.m. followed by the Adult Evening Bible Study at 7 p.m. The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet at 10 a.m. and the Youth Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. The choir meets for practice at 6:30 Thursday.

Lake Viking Church is an interdenominational church located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday school meets at 9 a.m. and our Worship Service begins at 10 a.m. 

Gallatin First Baptist

Everyone was welcomed and announcements were given by Bro. Garrett. Shelly Sims presented an overview on Annie Armstrong Easter offering, and special statewide missions project “Buckets of Love” which will be collecting Carmex lip balm, gallon Zip-lock bags and unscented lotion (non-pump 8-10 ounces) for African Aids patients.

Del Ray Vyrostek led intercessory prayer time. Lacey Henry presented the morning special music. Bro. Garrett’s message was from Ruth, “Loyalty Matters: A passage on Christian Loyalty and Devotion.” The Celebration Choir held a choir luncheon/practice after morning worship.

Church in Conference was held Sunday evening. Ladies Bible Study will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. Celebration Choir practice is Tuesday at 6 p.m. Pioneer Club/JOY youth meet for meal – 5:30; and study time begins at 6 p.m. Men’s Bible Study is at 7:30.

Gallatin Seventh-Day Adventist 

How are your New Year “resolutions” going? Here are a few suggestions for one to keep this year say prayer for a loved one. 

Our prayers are for the Curtis and Uthe families, Patrick McBroom’s family,  Joeanne Kitterer, Vicki Hiley, Karen Worrell. Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Matthew 8: 5‑13. Rev. Terry’s sermon “The Triumphal Entry” was from Mark 11:1‑30. Remember in prayer: Merlin Bozarth, Betty McFee, Treavor Teel, Tessa Lang, Randy Teel, Jeanne Oliphant, Casey Cornett, Clint Roberts, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Bobby Parkison, and Steve Crabtree.

Gallatin United Methodist

Jan Johnson played the prelude as Karlie Roe and Mady Tipton lit the altar candles. Melanie delivered the children’s message. Pastor Mike Tipton based his sermon, “Cleanse the Temple” on John 2: 13-22. Many children attended children’s church for children’s Lenten study during worship service.

Remember your dates to deliver Meals on Wheels in March. Bible study, An Easter Experience, continues on March 11 at 7 p.m. at Sweatmans’ home. March 12, Thursday, is a shower for Uthe/Curtis family at the Daviess County Nursing Home. Please see Carol Weaver for donating.

March 22 at 4 p.m. is “A Fashionable Tea” sponsored by UMW. Tickets are $10 from any UMW member. Peggy Noel has the style show program. March 29 will be dine in/carry out tamale pie dinner. Betty Peters and Nancy Tate will take carry out orders.
