Mothers in Charge (MIC), a non-profit in Kansas City, will be guest speakers at the upcoming March meeting of ReCess in Cameron. MIC is led by a group of women who have suffered the tragic losses of loved ones due to homicide. Their organization responds to homicide scenes to provide support to family members, hold vigils for victims, work to bring awareness of violence prevention, and educate children and parents on gun safety. They will be telling their stories, discussing their own work, and suggesting ways that communities can get involved in the ending of violence. The special meeting will be held on March 25 from 9-11 a.m. at the Cameron Police Dept meeting room. ReCess: ReCreating Success is a re-entry group working to remove barriers for ex-offenders and their families in Clinton, DeKalb, Caldwell, Daviess, and Livingston counties.
