School superintendents met last Wednesday in Gallatin to hammer out an agreement that would place schools in equal eight-team East and West divisions for softball and basketball, along with separate 11-man and 8-man football divisions.
Gallatin, Maysville, Milan, Polo, Princeton, Putnam County, South Harrison and Trenton will compete in the East Division for softball and basketball. Albany, Braymer, King City, North Andrew, Pattonsburg, St. Joseph Christian, Stanberry and Worth County will form the West Division for softball and basketball.
Conference wrestling and golf tournaments will include all 16 schools, depending on whether a school fields a team in either sport. The conference track championships will be held in a one-day meet featuring all 16 schools.
As of now, King City and Braymer join all eight East Division schools in the 11-man football conference but that will change should either or both opt for 8-man football beginning in the fall of 2016. Plans now call for a six-team 8-man football conference.
