Lake Viking
Pastor Robert Nelson’s sermon was “Greater is He” from I John 4:1-4. The special music “I wish we’d all been ready” was sung by Pastor Robert Nelson. The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet in the Fellowship Hall at 10 a.m. Wednesday.
The Youth Group “Above the Sinfluence” will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and the Adult Evening Bible Study will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Choir practice is held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday. Lake Viking Church is an interdenominational church located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and our Worship Service begins at 10 a.m.
Gallatin Christian
Sue Bird and the Praise Team began our 8:20 a.m. worship service with opening songs of praise. Elder Dennis Croy read announcements at both services, and shared the first “Focus on the Cross” reading as the wooden cross was carried in and placed on the chancel. Deacon Sheri Croy shared a children’s message at both services. Pastor Russ Hamilton read scriptures from Psalm 25:1-10 and 1 Peter 3:18-22 and delivered a message, “Lead Me.” Barbara Wilson played the piano at second service.
Upcoming this week: Three Lenten Bible Study opportunities with Pastor Russ–Every Wednesday at 6 p.m. and Sundays at 9:40 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. until Easter. Worship at Daviess County Nursing and Rehab at 2 p.m. March 1 and 15. Board meeting is March 11 at 7 p.m. Get ready for our annual daycare rummage sale: Wednesday to Friday, March 11-13, (9 a.m. to 6 p.m.); March 14 (8 a.m. to 12 noon).
Prayer wheel additions this week: family of Phyllis Gibbens, family of Tom Heckenbach, Drake Curtis, Brad and Julie Tummons, Dalton Swalley, Duane Swalley, and Ron Prewitt.
Gallatin First Baptist
Bro. Garrett welcomed everyone to Pioneer Club Sunday, and he also presented our weekly announcements. Jim Ruse led intercessory prayer time. Linda Arnold and Jeremy Ripple led the song service, beginning with the Pioneer Club theme song “Thy Word.” Lisa Reid introduced all the leaders and staff and a hand of appreciation was given for all their hard work. The departments are Scooters, Trailblazers, Voyagers, and Pathfinders. We also have nursery, kitchen staff, game leaders and other helpers.
The Scooters began the program by singing “Thy Word” and the other three groups presented very informative and entertaining skits. A slide show was also presented at the end of the program of various Pioneer Club activities throughout the year. Bro. Garrett’s presented a short devotional at the end of the service.
Our Ladies Bible Study will meet on Monday at 6 p.m. Celebration Choir practice is Tuesday at 6 p.m. Pioneer Club/JOY youth meet for meal – 5:30; and study time begins at 6 p.m. Men’s Bible Study is at 7:30.
Come join us for Missions Night at Pioneer Club Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. Several missionaries from the area will be joining us and sharing about their mission work. Bro. Mitch Green, church planter from Lenox, Iowa, will be here to share information on his mission work in Iowa, Sunday morning March 1. Keenagers will meet on March 5 for the monthly luncheon and their guest speaker will be from the VA.
Coffey Baptist
Extreme cold weather has a way of keeping many folks from attending morning worship service. However, Pastor Eldon gave the opening prayer and welcomed those in attendance. Anna and Eunice lead the music worship portion of our service. Announcements were given. Pastor Eldon will hold worship service March 8 at Crestview at 2 p.m. and Bethany care at 3 p.m. March 11 will be our monthly noon luncheon at Pattonsburg, and Bible study at 6 p.m. We need to remember the Annie Armstrong missions held during the month of March. Plan ahead for “Pack a Pew” Sunday, March 22. Several of our members are still on the list for prayer, concerning health matters, don’t forget the caregivers. Our message was taken from John 16:23. Bible study on Wednesday evening at 6 p.m.
Altamont United Methodist
Choral call to worship was “I Love You, Lord,” a sanctuary special. Bertie Stith gave the scripture lesson from Genesis 9:8-17, “Never Again Will a Flood Destroy the Earth.” Mission moment was the importance of youth camp and retreat ministries engaging in Bible studies and fruitful outreach experiences. Pastor Marilyn’s message was “Rainbow Covenant.”
We were glad our organist Velma Talbott had a very happy birthday on Feb. 18. Ashley Bloss carried out the Light of Christ as we sang “God Be With You” for our closing.
Olive Baptist
Brother David’s Sunday morning message was “Fellowship with God” from Ephesians 3. Sarah Ishmael’s children’s message was “We Are the Church” from Hebrews 3. During Sunday night Bible study, we discussed handling adversity from Charles Stanley’s “How to Let God Solve Your Problems.” We will hold business meeting on Sunday morning following worship. Our deepest sympathy is extended to the Butcher family.
Friends in Christ News
Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone. The praise song was “Blessed Be Your Name.” The sermon was “Recycled” and was part of the “Brand: New” series. Peggy Earnst closed in prayer. Small group time followed the service.
Pattonsburg Christian
Scripture reading was from Matthew 6:19-34. Rev. Terry’s sermon “The Parable of the Sower” was from Mark 4:1-20. Remember in prayer: Merlin Bozarth, Betty McFee, Trevor Teel, Tessa Lang, Casey Cornett, Edd Benson, Clint Roberts, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Bobby Parkison, Jennie Oliphant, and the family of Sue Shaw.
Gallatin United Methodist
Jan Johnson played the prelude as Peyton and Pryce lit the altar candles during the 11 a.m. service. Melanie delivered the children’s message. “Lent is a Renewal.” Pastor Mike Tipton based his sermon “Come to The Father Through Jesus” on 1 Peter 3:18-22.
Children’s church will begin March 1 for Children’s Lenten study during worship service.
Youth confirmation classes will be in Jamesport on Sundays at 4 p.m. for Gallatin and Jamesport churches. Bible study, An Easter Experience, continues Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. at Sweatmans’ home.
