During the year of 2014-2015, the Gallatin FFA Chapter has accomplished many goals and has done more than expected. This past week we celebrated National FFA Week. National FFA Week is where we celebrate Agriculture life. The Gallatin FFA chapter has 60 members. It had been a very productive year for the chapter as well as many of its members.

The summer started off with the chapter participating in the Area II softball tournament in Polo. The team placed fourth and had a very fun time. The students and the alumni got to bond with their new FFA Advisor, Ron Alden.

The Missouri State Fair is always a highlight for the Gallatin FFA chapter. The chapter won the Field Crop sweepstakes trophy. Members exhibited swine and cattle and won many blue and purple ribbons. The school year started off with an ice cream social for our incoming FFA members and their parents. We had ice cream and got to get to know the new freshmen and their parents. FFA jackets and ties were purchased at this time.

In September, 16 sophomores attended an Area II Chapter Degree Ceremony in Cameron. There they listened to the national officer and got their chapter degree pins. The Area II Greenhand initiation was in October, and we had 10 new members join our chapter.

In late October we had 14 members going to National Convention. During the time in Indiana the students went to a fish farm and a bee farm. During the convention they listened to a motivational speaker, went to a Justin Moore and Easton Corbin concert. They also attended a career show. There they learned different types of career options in the agricultural field.  Our tradition with FCCLA is to have barnwarming. Both organizers get together and put together an evening for the members to come and square dance. As every year, JR Bird called it again. Barnwarming King and Queen were Daniel Pettit and Kourtney Bird.

The greenhands also attended a Greenhand Motivational conference in the beginning of January in Trenton. The members got to hear the National FFA Officers speak. After FFA week we start preparing for our contest season. The members have already began studying and will continue and make it another great year, to exceed our goals.
