Gallatin’s girls took a three-game winning streak into the Hamilton Tournament, thanks to victories last week against Trenton and Albany.
Friday’s 57-17 win over Albany lifted the Lady Bulldogs to 3-0 in the conference and sets up a rematch with Braymer next Tuesday at home for the league lead. The Lady Bobcats beat Gallatin by three points in the Gallatin Tournament’s championship game.
Kailey Salmon held the hot hand for Gallatin, hitting 10 of 11 shots from two-point range and finishing with 25 points.
Nine different Lady Bulldogs, led by Kylie Collins with five, pulled down at least two rebounds as Gallatin outfought Albany on the boards, 34 to 21. Madison Rounkles led the team with five steals.
Gallatin held Albany shooters to a 6-for-31 success rate from the field.
The Lady Bulldogs recovered from a slow start to beat Trenton, 35-28, in non-conference action last Thursday in Trenton. Gallatin outscored Trenton, 36-11, in the middle quarters to take control of the contest.
Bulldogs move to 3-0 in GRC play
Gallatin’s boys earned a 64-51 road victory over Albany on Friday, boosting their Grand River Conference record to 3-0 in preparation for a big home game next Tuesday.
The Bulldogs will face a Braymer Bobcat team currently riding a 12-game winning streak after last night’s victory over Trenton in the Hamilton Tournament. The Bobcats are 4-0 in conference play with wins over Maysville, Stanberry, Polo and Worth County.
Top scorers for the Bulldogs against Albany were Jacob Boyd with 22 points and Harris Cameron with 15 pts.
Gallatin outscored Trenton in each of the final three quarters last Thursday but needed a 16-6 fourth period to overcome a five-point deficit and win, 58-53.
Trenton tried to set the pace with a 20-10 first quarter advantage but the GHS Bulldogs were able to chip away at the lead until the final decisive period.
Boyd paced Gallatin with 24 points. Cameron added 16.
