Altamont United Methodist

Prelude and candle lighting was done by Nichole Lopp and Ashley Bloss. Coral call to worship was “He Has Made Me Glad.” We enjoyed our friends from the Winston United Methodist Church worshiping with us and hope to do it again.

Barbara Youtsey gave the mission moment. Children’s time was on God give us hope and joy. Scripture lesson was read by James Wilson: “Jonah Obeyed the Lord and Went to Nineveh.” Pastor’s message was “We Are Given Second Chances.” A beautiful duet was sung by Lisa Daniels and brother James Wilson: “We are Standing on Holy Ground.”

Prayer Pal names were drawn for 2015. Twelve ‘thinking of you’ cards were sent to loved ones from the UMW on Wednesday. Our church will conduct services on Feb. 1 at the Daviess County Rehab and Nursing Home.

Gallatin Seventh Day Adventist

Have you made any new “resolutions?” Here are a few suggestions for one to keep this year: say a prayer for a loved one (s) or someone you know, and a praise in prayer for a loved one (s) or someone you know. Our prayers are for Patrick McBroom’s family, Joeanne Kitterer, Vicki Hiley.

Memory Verse: Proverbs 8:22 “The Lord possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.” Sabbath School Lesson; “Divine Wisdom” led by Mary Alice Dalby. Scripture: Ephesians 5:18 “And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; buy be filled with the Spirit.”

Gallatin First Christian

Sue Bird and the Praise Team began our 8:20 a.m. service with songs of praise. Elder Dennis Croy read announcements at both services. Deacon Sydney Elbert shared a children’s message at 8:20 a.m., and Junior Deacon Hunter McCampbell at 10:50 a.m. service. Pastor Russ Hamilton read from Jonah 3:1-5 and Mark 1:14-20 and delivered a message, “Reactions.” Barbara Wilson played the piano at second service and Linda Steward served as song leader.

Combined Unity Worship Service at 9:30 a.m. on Feb. 1 with our first archery ministry graduation and demonstration to follow. Sunday Night Live has been rescheduled for Feb. 8 at 6:30 p.m.

Prayer wheel additions this week: family of Patrick McBroom, family of Robert Graham, family of Lee Grawe, family of Carol Mavel, Phyllis Gibbens, Anna Cooper, Kevin Gundy, Jennifer Jumps, Dylan Fugate, and Amy Stone.

Assembly of God

The Sunday School lesson was on the one true God, Deuteronomy 4:39. Morning service opened with “We Come Into House to Worship Him.” We sang “Happy Birthday.” The children collected missionary offering, which was followed with a report by Ina McFee.

Jim Leonard led in prayer for requests, as well as praise reports. Some came forward for special prayer. Breana Leonard blessed us with a special number. Worship was a time of songs of thankfulness, including “Let the Son of God Enfold You.” Pastor Smith shared “Believe, These Bones Can Live,” from Ezekiel 37. The message said “I will place my spirit in you and you shall live.”

Gallatin First Baptist

Our pastor, Bro. Garrett, welcomed those attending and Eric Corwin led in prayer. “Can’t Stop Singing” was call to worship led by the choir and Macie McNeely and Grace Baur sang “I’m An Overcomer.”

Ladies Bible Study meets at 6 p.m. every Monday. Celebration Choir practice is at 6 p.m. Tuesday. Pioneer Club/JOY youth meet for meal at 5:30 and study time is at 6 p.m. Men’s Bible study is at 7:30. We will serve lunch to BSU on Feb. 4. Keenagers will not meet in February.

Lake Viking

Pastor Robert Nelson preached on “That Still, Small Voice” from John 16:7-14. Johnny Brown sang “Hollow Man” for the special music. There will be a youth fundraiser – spaghetti dinner and auction on Feb. 8 following the morning worship service. Donated items are being accepted between now and Feb. 6 for the auction. Tickets for the spaghetti dinner are $6 for adults, $3 for children and free for children three and under. The dinner will consist of spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, drink and dessert.

The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet Wednesday at 10 a.m., the Youth Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday and the Adult Evening Bible Study meets at 7 p.m. The choir meets at 6:30 on Thursday for practice.

The Lake Viking Church is located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 am and our worship service begins at 10 am. We are an interdenominational church and everyone is welcome to attend.

Gallatin Methodist

Pastor Mike introduced Chad Smith and his family from Macon. Chad spoke on his mission trip to Nicaragua. United Methodist Churches sponsor students for education there. Peyton and Pryce lit the altar candles as Jan Johnson played the prelude. Melanie led the children’s message, “Let’s Go Fishing.”

Jan. 28 at 7 will be Bible study at Sweatman’s home. Feb. 7 is Men’s Prayer breakfast hosting several area men’s groups at 7 a.m. Men please be at the church by 6 a.m. Prayer concerns continue for Kelly Walker, Dale Alexander and his son-in-law Mike Anderson, Jennifer Lazenby and the family of Lee Grawe.

Friends in Christ

Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone. Prayer concerns were mentioned, which Shonna lifted up in prayer. Praise song was “God of Wonders.” The message was week three of the “Re: Solution” series and was entitled, “Pro-Motion.” The scripture was from 1 Corinthians 13:1-3. Shonna closed worship with prayer. Small group time followed the message.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Matthew 4:18-25. Rev. Terry’s sermon “Christ’s Church” was from Matthew 16:13-20. Remember in prayer Merlin Bozarth, Betty McFee, Trevor Teel, Steve Lawrence, Tessa Lang, James Eivins, Ormah Heldenbrand, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Donna Bell, and the family of Patrick McBroom.
