Dr. Bryan Copple

The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education announced the hiring of Dr. Bryan Copple as the next superintendent of the district. The selection was made after a long and thorough evaluation and interview process, according to the board. There were many qualified applicants, but the board said it felt confident that Dr. Copple is the perfect fit for the community.

Dr. Copple currently serves as the superintendent of the Newtown-Harris R-3 District. He also has administrative experience at Chillicothe and Savannah.

Mrs. Copple works at North Central Missouri College, and the couple have two elementary aged children. They will be relocating to Gallatin in the near future.

The Gallatin R-5 Board of Education approved a standard form agreement between the district and Edwin Korff, architect, Prairie Village, Kan., to proceed with specific bids on the middle school building project during their meeting held Thursday, Jan. 15.

Members in attendance were Jesse Bird, Tim Bradford, Priscilla Whitt, Trenton Dowell, Bill Irby and Jeff Donovan.

Next meeting is Feb. 19.

APR and ACT and ASVAB scores for students were reported.

A request for an early graduation from Jesse Bundy was approved.

A previous motion to approve an early separation agreement for Tara Burns was rescinded. Mrs. Burns was not eligible for the program due to the fact that she is not eligible for retirement. The ruling was made in accordance to school policy.
