Two people were hurt in an accident that happened at about 11:30 p.m. on Dec. 31, 2014, in Daviess County.

According to the highway patrol, the accident happened as Quade Peery, 20, Jamesport was southbound on Charles Street at Hwy. 190 in Jamesport. He was attempting to prevent a passenger from exiting the vehicle while it was still moving. His 1980 Buick traveled off the west side of the road and struck a pole.

Mr. Peery received serious injuries and was taken by private vehicle to Cameron Regional Medical Center. It is unknown if he was wearing his seatbelt. A passenger in the vehicle, Kayla Turley, 19, Jamesport, received minor injuries. She did not seek medical treatment. She was not wearing her seat belt.

The Buick had extensive damage.

The accident was investigated by Tpr. J.R. Johnson, assisted by Tpr. V.R. McBride.

Mr. Peery was arrested at 1:58 a.m. on Jan. 1, 2015, in Clinton County by the highway patrol. He was charged with driving while intoxicated – Class B Misdemeanor; leaving the scene of an accident; careless and imprudent driving; and no seat belt. He was released.
