Betty J. Hillman, 84, of Gallatin, passed away Dec. 28, 2014, at her home. Funeral services were at McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin. Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery near Gallatin. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Christian Church in Gallatin.

Betty was born March 18, 1930, the daughter of Robert and Audrey (McQueen) Tague in Gallatin, where she graduated from high school. Betty was united in marriage to Roy Hillman May 29, 1954, in Kidder. The couple made their home in Gallatin where they lived all their married lives. Roy and Betty owned and operated Hillman’s Skelly Service where Betty was the bookkeeper. Her organizational skills were amazing and her attention to detail made it the perfect job for her. Roy was a woodworker and the shop adjacent to the station served as a craft store where Betty would sell the crafts that Roy had made. They retired after 30 years of dedicated service to the community.
Betty was a member of the First Christian Church in Gallatin where in the later years she served as the caller for CWF; she enjoyed helping in any capacity that was needed. She was a former member of the American Business Women’s Association and a past member of Eastern Star. Betty enjoyed knitting and crocheting and was always making something for her family. She loved to work on puzzles of any kind and had many picture albums and scrapbooks she had fixed to capture the memories. She loved her flowers especially green plants. Betty was a great cook with fried chicken being a family favorite. She loved to visit and was a good neighbor. Betty adored her family and especially her grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. Betty was a loving mother, grandmother and friend who will be greatly missed.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Roy, sister, Sharlene James and her husband Herbert, son-in-law Sidney Shippy.
Survivors include her son Danny Hillman and wife Kara of Pilot Point, Texas, daughter Markita Shippy of Butler, Mo., grandchildren, Anissa Harris and husband Brian of Butler, Courtney Hillman of Pilot Point, and Amanda Coffey and husband Randall of Denton, Texas, sister-in-law, Mildred McDaniels of Pattonsburg. Betty has 5 great-grandchildren.
