At a special meeting held Dec. 17, the Gallatin Board of Education offered a contract for middle school principal to Tiffany Otto. Mrs. Otto is the current superintendent at Pleasant View R-6.

A contract for special education director was offered to Becky Morris. Mrs. Morris is current administrator at Pattonsburg R-2 and former superintendent at North Daviess R-3. Interviews for the positions occurred Dec. 15-17.

Ed Korff, architectural firm, was authorized to seek bids for at least two possible configurations for the proposed middle school project during the regular meeting of the board held Dec. 18. A two-story, 60’x100′ middle school building is being considered. It would connect the existing elementary school building with the existing high school building. No final decisions have been made, but progress continues to go forward.

In other business, Access II proposed fully funding handicapped bleacher seating at the football field and the board accepted their proposal. Cost estimates for the project will be available in January.

The board voted to join the MSBA Natural Gas Consortium.

The board reviewed builders insurance.

The resignation of Tara Burns was accepted.

A recipient was chosen for the Belcher Scholarship and will be announced in the spring.

Gallatin hosted a Grand River Conference meeting, at which conference alignment was the topic. Schools are discussing enlarging the conference and realigning schools withing the group, should this occur. Talks are ongoing.
