Altamont United Methodist
Lighting of the Advent candles was done by James Wilson and Beverly Hunter. The Christmas story was presented by Laurie Roll. Pastor Marilyn gave a Christmas thought. Several enjoyable Christmas specials were given, musicals, instrumentals, and readings. Everyone was happy to play the choir bells, young and old to the son of “The Bells of St. Mary.”
Festive candy boxes with homemade fudge was given to everyone from James Wilson. He also presented 1968-69 Old Altamont Times publications to all. If only our little town could still be the same!
Susie Walton and Barbara Youtsey sacked nice treats for all. Silent Night with the lighting of candles made the circle for our closing. Velma Talbott played our Christmas hymns which the youth passed out gifts. Please pray for Rick Stephens, nephew of Bertie Stith. He is in much pain.
Gallatin Christian
The combined 9:30 a.m. worship service began with a prelude by Jeff Dreesen, followed by our Children’s Christmas Program featuring youth from Sunday School classes and the Lighthouse Learning Center. The program was directed by Tori McCampbell with accompaniment by Sue Bird, who also shared the announcements. The Advent reading and candle lighting was done by the Todd and Carrie Holcomb family. Our “Stickin’ With Jesus” group, directed by Mary Jo Pittsenbarger, performed “One King.” Pastor Russ read scripture from Isaiah 61:1-4 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16-24 and shared a message “Faithful.” Refreshments were served by the CWF after the service, and Santa (Wayne Uthe) took photos with children in the fellowship hall. Treat bags were provided to all youth by the Ever Ready Sunday School class.
We would like to invite the community to our annual Christmas Eve Candlelight service at 7 p.m. on Wed., Dec. 24, and to the next Neighborhood Table on Tues., Dec. 30, 5-7 p.m. Prayer wheel additions this week include Betty McFee. Please continue to hold Patrick McBroom and his family in your prayers.
Coffey Baptist
Our Sunday morning worship service was conducted with Eunice Holcomb leading the congregation throughout the entire service. The opening hymn was the praise hymn followed with “O Come all ye Faithful.” Pastor Eldon returned to his home Wednesday. He is in good spirits and looking forward to returning to the pulpit.
Several names were brought forward for prayer needs for sickness, and those who are shut-ins. we only had one birthday to celebrate in song, and of course that was the birth of the Christ child. Bro. Bob McCutcheon’s message was the account taken from Luke 2-8:20 on the birth of Jesus in the manger. Dec. 28 we will have our fellowship luncheon and business meeting following our morning service.
Gallatin First Baptist
Everyone was welcomed by Bro. Garrett, and Bob Sharp led intercessory prayer time. The congregation presented the call to worship: “Go Tell It On The Mountain” with the choir responding with “Isn’t He.” Bro. Garrett led a responsive reading from Isaiah 9:2, 6-7. Macy McNeely presented a beautiful medley of Christmas songs. Bro. Garrett shared our morning message. A brief business meeting was held after morning worship as we welcomed in our new Minister of Youth, Wood Marshall.
The community gathered for a time of prayer at 5:30 pm for Patrick McBroom and his family. A Singspiration was held at 6 pm Sunday evening with several from the congregational participating with songs, skits, signing, and all joined in singing Christmas carols. Have a truly blessed Christmas!
Lake Viking
“Shepherds Keeping Watch” was Pastor Robert Nelson’s sermon. The main scripture was Luke 2:1-20. The special music was provided by “Above the Sinfluence,” the youth group of Lake Viking Church.
This week the Wednesday evening group meetings have been cancelled for the Christmas Eve Candlelight Service. The candlelight service will begin at 6 p.m. Lake Viking Church is located just outside the East entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and our worship service begins at 10 a.m.
Gallatin Assembly of God
The Adult Sunday School class took their study from Luke 2. The lesson was about the events surrounding the birth of Jesus of Bethlehem. Clyde Lint showed how the prophecies from the Old Testament were being fulfilled.
Zoe Smith began service with “Joy to the World.” Missionary offering was collected and report shared by Ina McFee. There was a time of prayer for many requests.
The remaining service was devoted to the Christmas program which included singing and readings. Participants were Ina McFee, Amelia Dutro, Amanda Hogan, Dutro sisters, Tanya Leonard, Gloria Lint. Jim Leonard related the Christmas story. Louise Curtis told the story “A Star Shines” to the children. The church family gave gifts to Pastor Smith and Zoe. All in attendance were given a sack of treats and were invited to enjoy chocolate and cookies.
Gallatin Seventh Day Adventist
Special prayers and encouragement: Darryl and Liz Wilkinson’s grandson, Laura Hoyle and son Patrick McBroom and family, Vicki Hiley. Memory verse James 5:16, “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”

Rev. Terry’s sermon “Christ Born of Mary” was from Luke 2:1-20. Remember in prayer Mildred Hulet, Merlin Bozarth, Joann Anderson, Betty McFee, Mary Lou Brandt, Trevor Teel, Tessa Lang, Paula Walker, Julia Cornett, James Eivins, Frosy Lupfer, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Patrick McBroom, Bill Hendrix, Margie Huffiman, Bobby Clard, and the families of Tobe Wyrick, and baby Vreshars.

Message at the 11 a.m. service by Pastor Mike Tipton was “Devoted Through Difficult Days” from Matthew 1:18-25. Mady Tipton and Kendra McMahon lit the candles as Jan Johnson played the prelude. Melanie gave the children’s message: “Meaning of Names.”
The children will be collecting food for the food pantry in December. Please place your goods in the back of the church. Children are having their Christmas program during church next Sunday. The McMahon family lit the fourth Advent Candle. Christmas appreciation gifts were given to the Tipton family by the congregation.
Christmas Eve service is 6:30 for everyone. There will be a manger at the back of the church for a “Gifts of Gratitude” offering that will be used for missions, half locally and half for global missions. Methodist cookbooks are for sale for $8. Continued prayer concerns are for Patrick McBroom and his family, and Lois Yost.
Friends in Christ
The service was opened by Shonna Morrison with announcements. The advent candle lighting, scripture reading, and prayer was led by Lesli, Derrick, and Sara Lin. Our praise song was “O Holy Night.” Mike Earnst led the prayer to begin our sermon by Andy Stanly. The message was “Known Survivor” and was the third part of the series “Killin’ It.” The message was based on John 1:35-36 and John 3:27-30. Small group time followed the service.
This was the final Sunday for our BE RICH Campaign 2014. Our youth group will be hosting a foster family this week for ornament making, cookie decorating, lunch, and Christmas shopping as their BE RICH Service Project.
