In the spirit of the holiday season, I would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a healthy, happy, and Merry Christmas.

This year, Stephanie and I feel blessed as we experience the joys of Christmas through the eyes of our children (ages 7 and 3). Their enthusiasm and excitement is a great reminder that Christmas is a time to be thankful for the many blessings that have bestowed upon us and the freedoms and liberties that have been defended by those who have come before us. Most importantly, I am reminded that the miracle of Christmas and the spirit we feel this time of the year should be celebrated and shared with those around us.

As we watch our children’s delight in the traditions of Christmas, we also think about their future and the world in which they will grow up. As our state and nation continue to struggle, we must not forget that our actions today impact the world of tomorrow.

The fiscal restraint and responsible spending decisions being made at kitchen tables across our state must serve as a blueprint for our elected officials in Washington DC and Jefferson City. With greater care of our resources and an increased focus on our most fundamental responsibilities, our government can meet its responsibilities without sacrificing our future.

I hope each of you is able to experience the simple joys of life during this special time of year. I hope your Christmas is filled with the type of love, laughter, and friendship that goes far beyond the gifts under the tree and that you are able to take time to reflect on the many blessings we have as Americans.

Thank you for the great privilege and honor of serving you in Jefferson City. Thank you for your friendship and support. On behalf of Stephanie, Addison, Andrew and myself, we would like to wish you and your loved ones a very Merry Christmas.
