The top-seeded Winston boys had no trouble moving into the semifinal round of the HDC Tournament being played at Pattonsburg High School. The Redbirds will face the host team Wednesday at 8 p.m. with a spot in the championship game on the line.

The Redbirds rolled past Gilman City in the opening round last Friday with 10 different players finding the scoring column. Jordan Leonard topped all scorers for the Redbirds with 15 points. Cornelius Perry led Gilman with 10.

Pattonsburg’s boys reached the semifinal round with a 56-30 victory over North Harrison. Jared Teel and Adam Sullivan scored 25 and 18 points, respectively, to lead the Panthers.

The bottom half of the boys’ bracket pits Mercer against Grundy County at 5:50 today.

Mercer’s #1 girls will face North Harrison at 4:30. Pattonsburg’s girls play Gilman City at 7:10.

The tournament championships will be played Friday at 6:20 (girls) and 7:40 (boys).
