Oscar L. McNew, of Winston, formerly of Doniphan, passed away Dec. 8, 2014, at the Cameron Nursing and Rehab Center. Services will be held at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan. Local arrangements under the direction of McWilliams Funeral Home in Gallatin.

Oscar was born March 24, 1933, in Ripley County near Doniphan to the late Roy B. and Ida Langley (McGhee) McNew. On July 17, 1959, he was married to Sophia Griffin in Doniphan. They are parents of 2 children, Debra and Oscar B. (O.J.). He was a third generation timber worker and a man of great faith in God. He was a loving husband and father.
Oscar was preceded in death by his sister Louise Leeth and a brother Earl McNew.
Oscar is survived by his wife Sophia of the home, daughter Debra York and husband Ed of Farmington, Ky., son, O.J. McNew and wife Alice of Cameron, sister Corena Thompson of Idalia, Mo., 5 grandchildren, Josh McNew of St. Louis, John McNew of Osborn, Lexie McNew and Tasha Bennett both of Cameron, and Sheena Hoskins of Murray, Ky., 6 great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Sam, Jordon, Hunter Brianna and Mattie.
