Olive Baptist
Brother David’s Sunday morning message was “Gabriel’s Announcement” from Luke 1. We held our monthly business meeting after morning worship. We will hold baptismal services Sunday during morning worship, followed by a fellowship dinner.
Our Christmas program “The Meaning of Christmas” will be held December 21 during morning worship. Please bring items for our annual Christmas boxes as soon as possible. We will be collecting Lottie Moon Christmas offerings through December.
Altamont United Methodist
Barb Youtsey let the two purple candles for Second Sunday of Advent preparing our hearts to receive God’s Spirit. Sunday School lesson was taught by James Wilson “Worship His Majesty.” Our church gave a nice donation to the Gallatin R-5 School K-6 grade for Backpack Buddies.
UMW Ladies will meet this Wednesday, Dec. 10, at 1:30 p.m. We will have a cookie and gift exchange. Francie Toney and Anita Malo enjoyed listing to the Ashland Avenue Methodist Church Praise Band practice their Christmas specials Wednesday evening. Jack Malo is a member of this group in St. Joseph. He plays the drums. Come and share the beauty of Christ’s birth with us at 9:30 a.m. his Sunday. Pastor Marilyn will be with us.
Assembly of God
The adult Sunday School class referred to John 2:4-5 as the key verse for their lesson about “Why We Need God’s Grace.” They noted that God’s grace makes salvation possible to all undeserving mankind. The class expressed thanks for God’s kindness.
The church service opened with the chorus “This is the Day.” The children put smiles on everyone’s face as they collected the missionary offering. They then were led by Donna Hogan to children’s church.
Jim Leonard received prayer requests and encouraged us to join him in prayer for the many needs. The prayer included praying for our country and leaders in this time of economic problems and dangers around the world.
The worship in song and praise was led by Zoe Smith and Mona Roberts, which included the hymn “At the Cross.” The Christmas program was announced for Dec. 21. Pastor Smith’s message was about the events at the cross. He referred to mark 15:39 where the centurion said, “Surely this is the Son of God.” Pastor Smith, with help from Eddie Dutro and Jake Hogan, led the congregation in the communion in remembrance of Jesus’ sacrifice for us.
Friends in Christ
Service was opened by Shonna Morrison. The advent candle lighting and scripture reading was led by Chloe Simmons and Ali Johnson. Praise songs were “O Little Town of Bethlehem” and “Hark the Harold Angels Sing.” We were led in prayer by Shonna Morrison. Communion was led by Dane Brammer, Grant Simmons, Sara Lin, and Sara Morrison. The message was “Heaven Rules” and was the second part of the series “Killin’ It.” The message was based on Daniel 4:17. Small group time followed the service. Final preparations were made for the “Be Rich” campaign.
Gallatin Seventh Day Adventist

Gallatin Christian
On Saturday, Dec. 6, we held our 102nd CWF Chicken Dinner & Bazaar. Thank you to all who donated, volunteered, and attended this annual fundraising event coordinated by our Christian Women’s Fellowship. Congratulations to Mary Jarboe, she won the quilt raffle.
Sunday 8:20 a.m. worship began with opening songs by the Praise Team and Sue Bird, and Kathy Burns sharing announcements and a prayer at both services. A children’s message was shared by Sydney Elbert at 8:20 a.m., and Jeff Plotner at 10:50 a.m. Pastor Russ Hamilton shared scripture from Isaiah 40:3-8 and 2 Peter in his message “Be Alert.” Sue Bird played the keyboard for second service.
The annual Holiday Memorial Service sponsored by First Christian Church, McWilliams Funeral Homes, and Hospice Advantage began at 7 p.m. with the Color Guard presenting the flags in remembrance of Pearl Harbor. This special service included a comforting message by Pastor Russ, special music by Andy Campbell, and the reading of more than 200 names in honor of our loved ones who have passed on. A joyful noise was made in remembrance of a special memory of our loved ones by the ringing of the bells led by Theresa Hamilton. Following the service everyone enjoyed refreshments catered by Cycles.
Board meeting on Wed. at 7 p.m. and Archery at 6:30 p.m. After second service worship on Dec. 14 will have an informational meeting/soup luncheon for anyone interested in going on the Guatemala mission trip in July—special guest speakers will be mission trip coordinators Larry Hanby and Milynn Swofford (daughter of Jack and Lois Swofford). Please call the church office for more information. Join us 2 p.m. Sunday for a worship service at the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab. Our annual Children’s Christmas program will be on Sun., Dec. 21, during a combined service at 9:30 a.m. with a special performance by our “Stickin’ with Jesus” group. Santa will meet the children in the fellowship hall following the service.

Coffey Baptist
Morning worship service opened with greetings and prayer offered by Anna Booker. Our phase hymn followed and the hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy.” Birthdays were honored and the announcements. Bro Bob offered up prayer for our nation and community. Dec 10 will be our noon luncheon at Old Memories Café in Pattonsburg. All are welcome to attend Dec. 15 we will meet at the church to prepare Christmas plates and sack candy. Bro Bob McCutcheon gave the message taken from Revelations 3:20, “When someone comes knocking.” Ramona gave a report on Pastor Eldon. He is at King City manor once again for rehab and everything is going good so far. Remember to be in prayer for the shut ins, sick folks, and our friends and neighbors who have lost love ones, as well as those not attending church.
Fairview
Fairview opened this morning’s services with a devotional “I Am With You” from Matthew 10:29-31. Opened and closed with prayer. Sunday School study was “Worship Christ’s Majesty” from Hebrews 1:1-9. The message was “There Must Be the Extraordinary” from Genesis 3:15; Isaiah 7:10-15. Special prayers today are for Dr. McDonald; Cody Hullenger; Betty McFee; Connie Graeff; Tom Stecker. Next Sunday, Dec. 14, is the children’s Christmas program.
Lake Viking
Pastor Robert Nelson preached on “The Prophecy and Promises of the Messiah” the main scripture was Isaiah 7:1-6. The special music was sang by Mattie Radabaugh and Johnny Brown. Following the worship services several people from the church went to the Daviess County Nursing and Rehab Center to worship with the residents. The Ladies Bible Study Group will meet at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, the Youth Group will meet at 6:30 p.m. and the Adult Bible Study Group will meet at 7 p.m. Lake Viking Church is located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School begins at 9 a.m. and our worship service begins at 10 a.m.
Gallatin First Baptist
Bro. Garrett welcomed everyone and Mike Henderson led intercessory prayer time. Mike also presented the special music. Bro. Garrett presented the morning message from Matthew 2:13-20, and “The Truth Project” was presented for the evening service. The Celebration Choir enjoyed a noon luncheon and practice after morning worship. The Celebration Choir will meet for final Cantata practice on Tuesday evening at 6 p.m.
The choir will be presenting “Christmas Makes Everything New” under the direction of Linda Arnold during Sunday morning worship, Dec. 14.
EPIC Youth will meet Wednesday and Sunday evenings at 6:00 pm Men’s Bible Study will be at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Keenagers met for their Christmas luncheon Dec. 4, with Junior
and Sharon Burke presenting the program. Bro. Garrett and Jennifer will host an Open House at the Parsonage on Dec. 17 from 6 to 8 p.
Pattonsburg Christian
Scripture reading was from Isaiah 9:1-7. Rev. Terry’s sermon “The Announcement of John and Jesus Birth” was from Luke 1. Remember in prayer: Tob Wyrick, Margie Huffman, Mary Lou Brant, Jill Crabtree, Mildred Hulet, Merlin Bozarth, Joann Anderson, Betty McFee, Trevor Teel, Tessa Lang, Paula Walker, Julia Cornett, James Eivims, Frosy Lupfer, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henerson, Patrick McBroom, Bill Hendrix, Bently Dale, and the families of Renee Lewis and Dawn Hoover.
Gallatin United Methodist
Pastor Mike Tipton based his 11 a.m. message “Patient and Persistent” on Luke 1:8-23. Miley Duncan and Kendra McMahon lit the candles as the prelude was being played. Pastor Mike gave the children’s message, “Messenger of Good News.”
The children will be collecting food for the food pantry in December. Please place your goods in the back of the church. Children will be having Advent study during church time in Dec. rather than Sunday school. All kids are invited to attend at 11. Bill and Sue Hunt lit the second Advent candle. UMW has distributed $2,900 to local community missions/projects this year. Dec. 10-7 p.m. is 4-H meeting in fellowship hall. Bible study is at Sweatmans’ on Dec. 10 at 7 p.m. Dec. 14 at 2 p.m. is 2015 planning and board meeting combined with revive committee meeting prior at 1:30. Dec. 17 is Bible study at the church.
Christmas Eve service is 6:30 for everyone. Methodist cookbooks are for sale for $8. Continued prayer concerns are for Gage Wright, Beth Wheeler, Dale Alexander, Kelly Walker, Patrick McBroom, Tucker Wilkinson, and Scott Critten.
