Russell Eads and Marshall Grove, two Daviess County farmers, have qualified for the MFA Golden Acre Award after averaging more than 150 bushels an acre on fields they had entered in the statewide corn growing contest.

Modern dial telephone service will become a reality in Daviess County for the first time in history next Monday when the new Green Hills Telephone Corporation exchange at Lock Springs goes into operation. That area has been without phone service of any kind since 1947.

The Gallatin Bulldogs completed their outdoor basketball schedule last night with a one-sided victory over Jameson by the score of 56 to 9. The boys’ scores for the season are as follows: Heaston 138, Walton 128, McGinnis 99, Stelzer 69, Gallamore 34, Branam 30, Boor 29, Townsend 10, Albrecht 8, Hershberger 8 and Pine 4.
