Missouri’s firearms deer season, which ran eleven days, resulted in more than 167,000 deer being checked statewide. That’s up more than 9,900 compared to this time last year. The MDC reports the top harvest counties in the state this year were Howell with 3,418 checked, followed by Franklin with 3,338, and Texas with 3,170. Some nearby county totals were: Linn, 1,991; Sullivan, 1,810; Harrison, 1,728; Putnam, 1,430; Mercer, 1,318; Daviess, 1,260; Livingston, 1,084; Grundy, 1,041; and Caldwell, 946.
