Gallatin Seventh Day Adventist

Special Prayers and Encouragement: Pastor Mike Carner and family, Darryl and Liz Wilkinson’s grandson, Laura Hoyle and son Patrick McBroom and family, Vicki Hiley, Amanda Hogan, Chris Huffman. Gallatin First Christian

The Praise Team and Sue Bird led the congregation in songs of praise at the 9:30 a.m. combined service. Elder Carl Carder shared announcements and a prayer. Pastor Russ and Theresa Hamilton introduced their family who were in town for the holiday—three children, two sons-in-law, and six grandchildren. Linda Steward shared the children’s message. Pastor Russ shared a message titled “United” based on scripture from 1 Corinthians 12:1-11. Communion was shared by all believers.

Many enjoyed the annual “Hanging of the Green” service at 5:30 p.m. following a time of fellowship with a variety of finger foods. The Praise Team and Sue Bird led worshipers in singing Christmas hymns and carols as we decorated the tree with Chrismons and the sanctuary with greenery. Elders Lucille Bruce and LaVaughn Thomas shared special Christmas blessings and memories with everyone.

Upcoming event: Our 102nd CWF Chicken Dinner and Bazaar, Sat., Dec. 6th, 11 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Adults $7, $3 for children 6-12 years, and under age 6 are free. Raffle tickets are still on sale ($1 each or 6 for $5) for a quilt with hand-painted squares by Lucille Bruce depicting Biblical stories. The drawing for the quilt will be held during the dinner. Please join us Sun., Dec. 7th at 7 p.m. for the annual community Holiday Memorial Service sponsored by First Christian Church, McWilliams Family Funeral Homes, and Hospice Advantage—a catered meal by Cycles will follow. This special service is designed to help people who are going through a difficult time during the holidays due to the loss of loved ones. Call the church office at 660-663-3415 to add to the list of names that will be read during the service.

Coffey Baptist

In spite of the extreme cold weather, we had very good attendance for our morning worship service. Jodie Clair lead the congregation in our phrase hymn giving thanks for all our blessings. Pastor Eldon greeted us and gave the opening prayer. Special music was by Wanda Smith singing “Till the storm passes by.” Pastor Eldon gave the children’s message, followed with prayer for our nation and community. The congregation sang “Come ye thankful people come.”

Pastor Eldon gave the announcements, which included that there will be no Sunday evening service during the winter months. A good number of the folks who make up the congregation are older and find it difficult to get out at night. We were reminded by Pastor Eldon that he will under go knee replacement surgery on Monday, Dec 1. Please keep him and Ramona in our prayers for the surgery and recovery to go well. He expects to be out of the pulpit for six weeks. Bro Bob Mc Catchen will fill the pulpit for those weeks. Remember those folks who need our prayers and support of love and friendship during their trying times. Bible study on Wednesday evening, Pastor message was taken from Rev. 14 11-12.

Lake Viking

Pastor Robert Nelson preached on “The Zeal of the Lord” on Sunday morning. The main scripture was Psalm 27:1-4. For the special music Cathy Coleman sang “He knows my name” Following the worship service there was a time of fellowship during the 5th Sunday Potluck dinner.

Wednesday will be busy again with the Ladies Bible Study at 10 a.m., the Youth Group at 6:30 p.m. and the Adult Bible Study at 7 p.m. The Thursday night choir practice meeting time has changed to 6:30 p.m. If you would like to be a part of the choir please come to the practice.

Lake Viking Church is located just outside the east entrance to Lake Viking. Our Sunday School meets at 9 a.m. and our Worship Service begin at 10 a.m. We are in interdenominational church and everyone is welcome. Come hear the Bible preached and worship the Lord.

Fairview

Services opened as usual with prayer, hymns and a devotional on God’s love and constant presence guiding with love and mercy, moment by moment. Today’s worship service was “Let’s Refocus on Our Mission” from John 15:18-21. It is without doubt that our world is changing rapidly towards the negative side. Prayer, prayer and prayer with a lot of prayer and refocus on the instructions God’s has blessed us with. The days ahead are very uncertain but with Christ as the head, He will carry us. We, as brothers and sisters, need to constantly lift up each other and His beloved church and help lost be found.

Gallatin Assembly of God

The adult Sunday School class was led by Clyde Lint and referred to Matthew 20 and Luke 14, “Salvation is offered to every person and those who accept sometime in this life are given eternal life.” The church service began with singing and worship as led by Zoe Smith with Mona Roberts at the piano. The singing began with “We are Going to See the King.” The children again happily collected missionary offering before they went to children’s church with Donna Hogan.

We enjoyed “Led By the Master’s Hand” played and sung by Dick Curtis. Jim Leonard received the prayer requests and praise reports. He then led in intercessory prayer.

Pastor Smith’s message was from Matthew 11, “John, the Messenger.” He revealed how people came to see the man living in the desert and would hear him say “The Messiah is here.”

Altamont United Methodist

We celebrated our service for Hanging of the Greens. The church teens, Sami, Briar and Nichole brought forth many symbols of peace and glory. The first Advent candle and devotion was given by sisters Helen Stephens and Bertie Stith. “Hope” was the message.

Sunday School lesson was The Lord has adopted us into His eternal family. We are officially His children and will receive an uncomparable inheritance from Him. UMW ladies will meet later in December for Christmas part and gift exchange. Continued prayers for Dorothy Duffy, David Toney, Zaidie Hawman and Pastor Marilyn.

Gallatin First Baptist

Jim Ruse welcomed everyone and Bob Sharp led intercessory prayer time. Rikki Dungy presented the special music. Micah Sidebottom presented the message from Galatians 5 “Living out a Christian Legacy” and Jeremy Ripple led “The Truth Project” for the evening service.

The Celebration Choir will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday. EPIC Youth and Pioneer Club will meet Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. for the evening meal and Pioneer Club will have their Christmas Party and Awards Night. Men’s Bible Study will be at 7:30 p.m.

Keenagers Christmas Luncheon will be on Dec. 4. The Annual Ladies Christmas Ornament Exchange will be on Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. Ladies of all ages are invited to attend, bring a favorite finger food and gift-wrapped ornament and enjoy true blessings. There is a Men’s Retreat scheduled for Dec. 5 and 6 at Miracle Hills Ranch in Bethany.

Friends in Christ

Shonna Morrison welcomed everyone. The advent scripture was read by Gina Dixon and the advent candle was lit by Lanny Dixon. Praise songs were “O Come O Come Emmanuel” and “Hark the Herald Angels Sing.” The message was “Killin’ It” and was part one of the series, “Remote Controlled.” The message was based on Psalm 10:4. Small group time followed the message. Plans are being finalized for our “Be Rich” campaign.

Pattonsburg Christian

Scripture reading was from Romans 1:18-32. Rev. Terry’s sermon “Preach The Word” was from II Timothy 4:1-5. Remember in prayer: Jill Crabtree, Mildred Hulet, Merlin Bozarth, Joann Anderson, Paula Walker, Jim and Dawn Hoover, Julia Cornett, James Eivins, Frosty Lupfer, Kelly Vanderslice, Kathy Henderson, Patrick McBroom, Bill Hendrix, Bently Dale, Betty McFee, Tessa Lang, and the family of Herb Luke. The church Christian dinner well be Sunday Dec 7 after church service.

United Methodist Church

Pastor Mike Tipton based his 11 a.m. message, “Promises of the Prophets” on Isaiah 9: 6-7. Pryce and Peyton lit the candles as Jan played the Prelude.

Pastor Mike gave the children’s message “Waiting.”

The children will be collecting food for the food pantry in December. Please place your goods in the back of the church. Children will be having Advent study during church time in December rather than Sunday school. All kids are invited to attend at 11. The Sweatman family lit the first Advent candle, the purple candle of hope. Nov. 30 was Hanging of the Green service.

Bible study will be 7 p.m. Dec. 4 at Steve and Joanne Lien’s home at Lake Viking.

Dec. 6 at 7 a.m. is a combined Men’s and UMW prayer breakfast. Christmas plates will be prepared. Dec. 14, Sunday, 2 p.m. is 2015 planning and board meeting combined with Revive committee meeting prior at 1:30. Continued prayer concerns are for Beth Wheeler, Dale Alexander, Kelly Walker, Patrick McBroom, and Tucker Wilkinson.
