Wilma was born June 19, 1916, to Lewis and Audra (Waters) Kroschen near Pattonsburg and attended Smith Country School. Wilma was united in marriage to Oris Lasher Sept. 16, 1932, in Gallatin. The couple made their home on a farm near Jamesport. In 1951 they purchased a farm east of Jameson, where they continued to farm and raised their 2 children, Jim and Deanna. Wilma was employed at the Lambert Cap Factory in Gallatin where she dedicated over 30 years. Her devotion to hard work was evident and she was always willing to tackle a new job when given the task. She made many friends at the factory and always had time for fun. In 1991 Oris and Wilma moved to Gallatin and Wilma continued to work. She would have never retired if the factory had not closed.

Wilma was a member of the First Christian Church in Jameson, and after moving to Gallatin, she attended the Church of Christ across from her house. She always had a big garden and canned each year. As years passed by she continued to be a strong, self-sufficient person who delighted in helping others. You could find her mowing at the farm, cutting brush, burning leaves and her most famous project “cleaning out her eavestrough.” Even at the age of 90, she continued to work like she was in her 60s.

She adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with them and hearing about what they were doing. She loved to sew and crochet, making many afghans and quilts for family. Every stitch was made with love. On many occasions you could find her with her “grand-dog” Jake, he also held a special place in her heart. Throughout her life, Wilma’s ability to cope and find good in all things was always amazing. In the last few years as her health and memory declined, she continued to give strength to her friends and family. She was an amazing mother and grandma. Though not a perfect person, she always had it in her heart to forgive and to see good in people. Our prayer for her is that she is now able to work, laugh, remember, and most of all, be at peace.

Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Oris in 1995, sisters, Lillian Dorney and Vesper Lierley, and daughter-in-law, Janet Lasher.

Wilma is survived by her daughter Deanna McWilliams and husband David, and her son Jim Lasher, all of Gallatin, grandchildren, Brian, Chris and Sandy Lasher, and Christy Hunt, great-grandchildren, Austin and Grant, a niece and nephews.
