Gallatin FFA members Jonathan Arnold, Lacy Edwards and alternate Whitney Ray were part of the National FFA Band which performed recently at the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Ken.

Kate Hangley, 14, Pattonsburg, bagged an unofficial 19-point buck shortly after deer season opened Nov. 13. She is the daughter of Dana Shipers of Pattonsburg and Steve Hangley, who was visiting from Texas.

Nov. 16, 1994

Gwen Spidle, daughter of Ron and Kim Spidle of Gallatin, signed a national letter of intent to attend the University of Alabama on an athletic scholarship for gymnastics.

Nov. 21, 1984

Ten-year-old Christa Sullenger reaped a number of outstanding awards during horse show competition staged at the American Royal held in Kansas City. Christa, a fifth grader at Gallatin R-5 Elementary, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sullenger.

Joe Snyder, co-publisher of the Gallatin North Missourian, was the first Gallatin businessman honored by a new award sponsored by the Gallatin R-5 Future Business Leaders of America.

Nov. 21, 1974

The Gallatin Bulldogs bring back five individuals who started in at least one basketball game last season: Danny Robertson, Bob Bird, Rick Lewis, John Wright and Rick Tolen.

The following students from Gallatin R-5 have been selected to participate in the 24th annual North Central Missouri Band Clinic: Chris Thomas, Kim Hudson, Debbie Critten, Rick Tolen, Jill Terrill, Terri Hamilton, Arnel Bruce and Mike Howard.

Nov. 19, 1964

Starting five for the 1964-65 Bulldog basketball team are Harold Gooding, Lynn Leopard, Jerry Taylor, Steve Helton and Roger Tapp.

Sally Tucker and Ed Froman were crowned Queen and King of the Gallatin FFA and FHS Barnwarming.

Nov. 18, 1954

Two are 4-H’ers received honors this month through the Missouri Agricultural Extension Service. James Whorton of Jamesport was one of ten Missouri boys and girls to be named a state winner for his soil and water conservation project. Miss LeAnna Claycomb of Gallatin was honored by her selection as a delegate to the National 4-H Congress to be held in Chicago.

Nov. 16, 1944

Private First Class Leland H. Morrison, 29, has been awarded the combat infantryman badge for service in combat against the Japanese. Morrison earned the badge for his part in helping defeat Jap assaults on Hill 129, Bouganville Island.

Ensign Charles T. Reed, of Harrison Township, was recently promoted from the ranks of enlisted men to Gunnery Officer of an LSM (Landing Ship, Medium), the speed carrier of attack that has been specifically developed for Pacific duty.
