Winston’s boys moved one game closer to tying the school’s all-time win record with Tuesday night’s 74-45 victory over Pattonsburg in the opening round of Class 1, District 14 action at North Andrew High School.

The Redbirds enter Thursday’s semifinal game with King City looking for their 24th win of the season.

Five Redbirds reached double figures on Tuesday, led by Ty Uthe with 23 points. Stephen Evans scored 12 points, followed by Jordan Leonard with 11, Craig Lewis with 10 and Kristchon Hisel with 10.

Winston’s third-seeded girls defeated Stewartsville, 58-26, to advance to tonight’s (Wednesday) 7:30 p.m. semifinal against HDC Conference rival and #2 seed Pattonsburg.

District 14 championship games will be played Friday at 6 p.m. for girls and Saturday at 6 p.m. for boys.

Winners from District 14 will take on winners from District 13 at Liberty North High School at 6 p.m. (girls) and 7:45 p.m. (boys) on Tuesday.
