“While we all want affordable health insurance and quality health care, expanding Medicaid as defined within Obamacare is not the solution. 22 states have decided that expanding Obamacare in their states via Medicaid expansion is not a good idea and Missouri should do the same. While the federal government promises to pay on the front end, Missouri residents will be left holding the bill on the back end. We applaud the MO General Assembly for rejecting the expansion of Medicaid but also appointing the interim committee to look for free market reform solutions that are state centric and not a one size fits all big government approach.”

The problems associated with Obamacare impact the overall commitment the federal government has made to the states and impact their ability to make future Medicaid payments as promised. Recently the Congressional Budget office reported that Obamacare will cost the economy the equivalent of 2.5 million jobs by 2024. As a result, based on Bureau of Labor Statistics and the CBO report, Obamacare could cost Missouri 49,475 jobs.
