“We are planning on having the second meeting in March at the community building in Dockery Park to encourage the public to come and ask questions regarding the sales tax question on the April ballot,” says City Administrator Zac Johnson.
During the board meeting held Feb. 24 at city hall, Gallatin’s aldermen voted to proceed with the purchase of an oiler truck. Administrator Johnson said negotiations continue on the truck purchase from a Wisconsin dealer for an anticipated price tag of about $40,000. Aldermen Whitfield, Walker and Evans cast yes votes while Alderman Lockridge abstained since the lease purchase is being handled through Farmers’ Bank where Mr. Lockridge is employed.
Comments by aldermen were made regarding the electric system.
Swimming pool manager Laurie Roll discussed the 2014 pool season with aldermen. Police Chaplain Austin Bonnett discussed energy and electricity issues with the board.
Police Chief Richards submitted a report on activity from Feb. 10-24 with the following reports taken and tickets given: 1 water shut off; 2 dogs at large; 1 vehicle lockout; 1 car seat check; 1vacant house check; 1 custody issue; 1 discolored water report; 1 civil issue; 2 phone scams; 1 down cable line; 1 fight at Southside Tavern; 1 burglary; 1 carbon monoxide detector report; 1 bully at school incident; 1 assault at high school; 1 motorist assist; 1 residential animal control problem; 2 medical assists; 1 missing trash can; 1 property damage; 1 possible CNI; 1 illegal parking; 1 nails left in alleyway; 1 Cub Scout tour. There are no dogs in the pound.
Bills totalling in the amount of $34,898.40 were approved for payment.
Public Works Director Mark Morey offered an update on all utility departments from January to present. He also submitted a list of future projects for each department.
Aldermen Lockridge and Evans discussed visiting officials from the City of Hamilton to compare policies and procedures.
City Administrator Johnson met with Missouri Intergovernmental Risk Management Association to work on the new property and liability insurance application. He will have an ordinance with a quote in the next month.
Administrator Johnson also reported that one computer at city hall must be repaired.
