TRENTON, MO — The Missouri Photo Workshop’s second visit to Trenton is a little more than a month away and the application process is now complete. The 65th annual workshop will run Sunday, Sept. 22 through Saturday, Sept. 28, and workshop headquarters will be located in the Rock Barn on the North Central Missouri Fairgrounds. Every year for six decades the workshop has visited a small town in Missouri to document everyday life and capture the fascinating stories of the individuals and institutions that form the core and soul of the community. As was the case when MPW first visited Trenton in 1995, the workshop focuses on the fundamentals of researching, shooting, and editing while emphasizing ethical practices. This year’s group of 45 photographers includes applicants from all corners of the U.S. as well as Canada, Denmark, Germany, Italy, Nepal, Syria, Thailand and the United Kingdom. The workshop has historically been a blend of young photographers looking to gain experience and mid-career professionals hoping to sharpen and refresh their documentary skills.
