LATHROP, MO — Five and a half years after opening its doors, the new Lathrop High School will have a parking lot worthy of its new construction. The Lathrop Board of Education has awarded a $426,000 construction bid of the high school parking lot to Herzog Construction of St. Joseph. A projected completion for initial work is Aug. 15 with additional parking lot work to be completed by Sept. 30. The asphalt parking lot will include completing curbing along the lawn-edge of the parking lot, and will leave the existing concrete handicapped parking intact. Four hundred thousand dollars of the project is being provided through a 10-year, low-interest loan through MOHEFA with no pre-payment penalties. The district may choose to pay off the loan ahead of time.
