TRENTON, MO — Trenton twins Carly and Kennedy Wanstreet got a chance to “talk” with the animals during their trip to the Orlando, FL, area this spring as part of the Dream Factory program. The girls, who will be fifth graders this fall at Trenton Middle School, spent 10 days in Florida from April 16-25. They visited several of the more famous sites in the area, including Disneyworld, Epcot Center, the Kennedy Space Center, and Sea World, among other points of interest. They also got the chance to travel to Clearwater and Cocoa Beach. Carly and Kennedy have what is known as congenital adrenal hyperplasia, a life-threatening disease that results in the adrenal glands not functioning. To battle this disease, the girls take medication three times a day. Because of their situation, the girls were nominated for the Dream Factory experience, which is made available to chronically ill children up to the age of 18. Carly and Kennedy were actually chosen for a “dream” several years ago, however, their mother, Cassy Wanstreet, requested they wait until they were older so “that they could enjoy it more.”
