CAMERON, MO — City officials have announced that Cameron Police Department Sgt. Rick Bashor has been appointed as interim Chief of Police. Bashor has been with the city since 1996 and has received numerous awards and commendations throughout his career, including the Northwest Missouri Valor Award. He was named the city’s Employee of the Year for 2011. A native of King City, Bashor began his law enforcement career as a deputy with the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department in 1991. He also worked part-time at the Country Club Village Police Department. In 1996 he was hired as a patrolman with the Cameron Police Department and was promoted to detective in 1999 and sergeant in 2004. Bashor was appointed as interim chief after Chief of Police Corey Sloan submitted his resignation June 10. Sloan served as police chief since 2004.
