TRENTON, MO — Trenton’s annual Gooseberry Festival is scheduled for Father’s Day weekend, with activities planned throughout town June 14-16. Events kick off at 7 p.m. on Friday night with the Iowa-Missouri sanctioned truck and tractor pull at the North Central Missouri Fairgrounds grandstand. Persons can contact Kevin Stover at 660-247-1397 to register. Admission is $10 for adults. Students and military personnel with proper identification are admitted for $5 and children 12-and-under can attend for free. A whole host of events are planned for Saturday, beginning with the 5K/10K run/walk, sponsored by the Grundy County Health Department. The Trenton Kiwanis Club is planning its annual Little League Baseball Tournament. For details, persons can call Dewayne Slater at 359-4186 or 359-3954. The Rock Barn will be the site for several events, beginning at 9 a.m. with registration for the gooseberry cooking contest. Pies, jams and jellies made with the festival’s namesake will be judged at 9:30 a.m. and prizes will be awarded. An art show is scheduled in the courtyard area of the Rock Barn, featuring work by the Trenton Art Guild. Craft, food and novelty vendors will also be located around the Rock Barn from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A horseshoe pitching contest is slated at Eastside Park. A clinic will be held at 10 a.m. with a tournament to follow. The Bud Cox Antique and Classic Machinery Show will take place in the livestock pavillion of the Rock Barn area throughout the day.
