BETHANY, MO — Junior and senior high students at South Harrison R-2 School will see changes in the way the school’s curriculum is administered on a day-to-day basis beginning next August. The school board unanimously approved a One-on-One Initiative, where each student will be provided with a new Samsung Chromebook laptop for the 2013-14 school year. The new program is a result of a 2-year study and research led by Principal Dennis Easton. The administration hopes that by making computers the primary school supply for students, classrooms will expand beyond the school building walls to better prepare students for college and career readiness. Faculty and staff will participate in two days of professional development over the summer to learn a new way of teaching, with less emphasis on a printed textbook and more emphasis on collaboration and technology.
