TARKIO, MO — The Black Iron Grill’s 77-oz. steak challenge has had people stretching the limits of their stomach capacity since the restaurant opened in December, 2007. Recently a 120-pound woman from Bellevue, NE, won the overall and pound-for-pound record by finishing the steak challenge in only 8:03 — that’s eating the 77-ounce steak, a baked potato, shrimp cocktail, a side salad AND roll in just over eight minutes! Molly surpassed the previous record held by Randy Santel of Overland Park, KS, by more than 15 minutes. Store owners say about 24 people have each paid $110 (an entry fee now lowered to $80) to take the steak challenge since the business opened. When Molly is not traveling around demolishing competitive eating records, she is a bartender/server at an Applebee’s in Bellevue, NE, and a wife and mother of four girls.
