TARKIO, MO — The Lewis and Clark Historic Landscape Mapping Project will be offered for viewing during May at the Tarkio Resource Center. Drawing upon its voluminous collection of photographs, books, and paper records, the Missouri State Archive has created colorful exhibits that tell the stories of Missouri’s past. Taking 19th Century land survey records and combing them with modern mapping technology, geographers from the Geographic Resources Center produced something unique and original: They recreated the world of Lewis and Clark in beautifully rendered historic maps and gave us a new way to look at the Lewis and Clark Expedition in Missouri. The first showing was scheduled on May 5; other public showing will be announced. For a schedule or to register for a group tour, call Marilyn Wilcox at 660.736.4833.
