CAMERON, MO — After battling maintenance issues over the past few years, the Cameron Police Department has taken delivery of six new 2013 Dodge Charger Pursuit patrol cars under a lease/purchase agreement. The vehicles are already in use. Last year the department’s old fleet of six cars averaged 81,000 miles. Two of the vehicles were out of service with one needing a new transmission. City councilmen approved a plan presented by Chief Corey Sloan to pursue a lease/purchase agreement which includes a $1 buyout at the end of the program when the city would own the vehicles or when the city could enter into another lease/purchase program for newer fleet vehicles. The newer patrol cars average about 17 miles per gallon compared to 12 mpg on the older cars.
