CAMERON, MO — Ken Raffety is the Grand Marshal of the 33rd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Cameron, sponsored by the Knights of Columbus Council #1110 of St. Munchin Parish. Mr. Raffety has lived in Cameron since 1967. He served three years in the U.S. Air Force, stationed in England, Germany and Africa. Then then worked in a family dairy operation and held jobs as a meat cutter in grocery stores and at a family-owned meat locker in Norborne. He then entered the insurance business, working and traveling throughout Northwest Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee. For the past 19 years, Raffety has worked for Cameron Savings and Loan. He also started a fishing bobber company, later moving the business to Independence before selling it in 2011 after 30 years of ownership. Mr. Raffety has been affiliated with the hospital in Cameron for 43 years, serving on the Cameron Regional Medical Center Foundation Board for 20 years. He also volunteers as a driver taking patients to medical appointments and treatments. Raffety is widely known for his efforts officiating high school and college sports. He served 12 years on the Cameron Board of Education; he is a member of Cameron Rotary, American Legion, and Cameron First Baptist Church.
