TRENTON, MO — The Trenton Police Department is partnering up with the Trenton Area Chamber of Commerce to host a women’s survival awareness and self-defense class on Saturday, March 9. Chief Wright said 44 women, ages 16 to late 60s, are signed up for the class, which will be held in the Trenton High School wrestling room from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Local jiu-jitsu black belt Santiago Gurerro will be teaching the class, which will include various techniques women can employ to keep themselves safe in dangerous situations. Wright, who began his duties as police chief last October, said that while this is the first time he has ever presented a class of this nature, he felt the need to provide this service for the female population in a college town.
