SAVANNAH, MO — Collection of the City of Savannah’s old debt is a hot topic of discussion, especially in pursuing utility payments when customers move away with a balance due. From an outstanding debt balance of approximately $100,000, nearly $5,000 was successfully collected during the past year — mostly for water already delivered. Savannah officials have checked with United Electric and Bethany, Albany, and Platte City to see how those entities handle similar circumstances. All pursue unpaid collections as long as possible.
