NORTHWEST MO — Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon has appointed Dr. Patrick B. Harr, Shell Knob, and John W. Richmond, Albany, to the Northwest Missouri State University Board of Regents this week. The Regents develop policy and has responsibility for sound resource management of the university and determines general, educational and financial policies. Harr, who spent 38 years practicing medicine in Maryville and served as a volunteer physician for Northwest athletics teams before retiring last June, is a physician specializing in family and sports medicine at Mercy Family Medicine in Shell Knob. He obtained his medical degree from the University of Missouri and studied pre-medicine at Northwest Missouri State University before obtaining his undergraduate degree at the University of Missouri. Harr is a veteran of the US Air Force. Richmond is the retired president and CEO of Northwest Medical Center in Albany, a position he held for 29 years. The governor has appointed both men for terms ending January 1, 2019. Both appointments must be confirmed by the Senate before they can become official. If confirmed, Richmond will fill the board seat of Lydia Hurst, and Harr will fill the seat of Douglas L. Sutton. The terms of Hurst and Sutton are expired.
