NORTHWEST MISSOURI — The Northwest Wholesale Water Commission continues work to develop a water supply system for communities located throughout the region. In that effort, Cameron city officials are being urged to study costs of building a pipeline that would deliver water from a supplier in Kansas City or St. Joseph to Cameron — or if that cost is prohibitive, find a better alternative such as enlarging water reservoirs. Although some communities have dropped participation in the commission due to inactivity, Cameron hopes to benefit from the commission’s work especially if land easements are involved over properties outside city limits. Some say a wholesale water commission figures to provide cheaper water prices than other alternatives.
