ALBANY, MO — Robyn Akins, wife of Sgt. 1st Class Tim Akins of Battery A, 1-129th Field Artillery Battalion in Albany, has received the Honorable Order of Molly Pitcher Award. The gold medallion recognizes her service to the men of the field artillery on behalf of the U.S. Field Artillery Association and the Air Defense Artillery. The honor stems from the spirit and sacrifice of the legendary Molly Pitcher, who manned her husband’s gun in battle after he was wounded in 1778 during the American Revolutionary War. It is to recognize women who have voluntarily contributed in a significant way to the improvement of the field artillery communities. Mrs. Akins serves as the treasurer for the battery’s Family Readiness Group.
