MERCER COUNTY, MO — Area families were thankful for the Coon Creek Baptist Church and others who helped provide Thanksgiving dinner for them on the holiday. A total of 320 persons were served the annual dinner at the Coon Creek Baptist Church, however, another 520 meals were delivered to the needy and elderly, as well as families who had come to be with family members who were unable to prepare a meal. More than 20 persons worked Monday through Wednesday preparing the feast, which included 46 roasted turkeys and 12 smoked turkeys, with about the same number working again on Thursday. Volunteers came from the Trenton area, as well as Spickard, Princeton and even as far away as Edmond, OK. Fifteen teams, consisting of three to four persons, and sometimes an entire family unit, delivered the meals to those who could not come to the church.
