CHILLICOTHE, MO — According to research from Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute, 83% of companies surveyed nationally report moderate to severe shortages in skilled production positions such as machinists and technicians. Grand River Technical School offers training and certifications in these fields and others to help address this “skills gap.” A Career Expo will unfold Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at GRTS in hopes of reaching high school seniors preparing for graduation and adults seeking additional training. This is the 11th year of the expo which traditionally attracts nearly 100 attendees. Those participating tour two programs of their choice and, in a third session, will learn about admissions procedures, financial aid and college credit options. Prizes are awarded, including two $500 scholarships. The tours begin at 9 a.m. with registration at 8:30 a.m. Anyone interested should call GRTS at 660-646-3414.
