GRUNDY COUNTY — The Missouri State Tax Commission recently found through a random sample that assessed valuations applied to properties in Grundy County were out of tolerance. Approximately 30 residential properties were found with assessed valuations too low, based on the state commission’s valuations. Authorities say valuations are not to be less than 90% of state assessment values. State officials say Grundy County is at 88.9%, based on these random samples. In some cases, the tax commission can withhold funding which is currently $3 per parcel. This penalty is not expected to be applied in this particular case, however, since Grundy County has normally been within compliance. County officials plan to meet with state officials to specifically review the random sample properties soon.
