MARYVILLE, MO — Sometimes families have to make tough decisions about which bills to pay and that leaves them short on funds for food. Because of this, 17,000 kids in the Second Harvest 19-county service area go to bed hungry at night. That’s why KXCV-KRNW, the award-winning National Public Radio affiliate based at Northwest Missouri State University, has teamed up with students from the university’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) to raise food and funding to fight hunger in the region. On Saturday, Nov. 10, prior to the Bearcat football game, Northwest students and KXCV-KRNW staff members will be stationed at the entrance gates to Bearcat Stadium. Barrels will be in place for fans to drop off non-perishable food items and cash donations will be accepted. Football fans are encouraged to donate one non-perishable food item or a single dollar as they enter the stadium.
