LAWSON, MO — The Lawson community turned out in force Oct. 26, 2012, to mark a milestone — Lawson High School has been named a National Blue Ribbon School. The honor is bestowed by the U.S. Department of Education to schools that show distinguished achievement or significant improvement. Schools can only be nominated once every five years. Lawson was one of four among the 500+ high schools in Missouri to receive the award. The honor is awarded to approximately 300 schools nationwide. Students took over the celebration as administrators and teaching staff made presentations. Also speaking was Sen. David Pearce, chairman of the Education Committee, who stated public education is doing some great things in Lawson and elsewhere.
