BETHANY, MO — The Bethany city council has entered into an agreement with the engineering firm of Snyder & Associates of Maryville to prepare cost estimates for establishing new sidewalks near Bethany’s schools. The city hopes to obtain a grant from MoDOT to build sidewalks near the high school and the elementary school. The engineering study is expected to cost from $750 to $1,000. School officials say sidewalks are either absent or in poor shape near the grade school. A survey was undertaken to identify potential use with few parents choosing to have their children walk or bike to school due to safety concerns.
