ALBANY, MO — The president of the Community Foundation of Northwest Missouri appeared before the Albany Chamber of Commerce recently to emphasize that money earned in Northwest Missouri benefits charities and non-profit organizations within Northwest Missouri. Mary Hind says the foundation, established in 2009, exists solely to help 18 counties in this region with philanthropic goals. The foundation administers several fund types such as scholarships, organizational, donor advised, designated or undesignated, to help donors and charities. There are 16 scholarship funds for area high school seniors, and an online scholarship application process will soon be available. The amount of charitable donations in Northwest Missouri is estimated to be in the billions. The foundation manages 64 funds at just over $14 million; $6 million of that comes from anonymous donors. Ms. Hind also told Albany chamber members about the Farming Forever Program that allows farmers to donate their land and yet still keep the land in production.
